"Although the closure of borders last year due to a global pandemic taught us to work effectively online, Ukraine's participation in one of the largest arms exhibitions taking place offline is difficult to overestimate," said Vadym Nozdria, Director General of the 'Ukrspeсexport' State Company, commenting on the progress at IDEX 2021 which is underway in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.

To confirm this, he said that during the show a contract was signed between Ukrspecexport and Pakistan for the repair of the T-80UD MBTs totalling $85.6 million. "This is the first contract of Ukrspecexport (one of the most systematic and effective special exporters of Ukroboronprom) with Pakistan this year," said Vadym Nozdria. The issue of expanding cooperation and implementing new projects by the end of 2021 was also discussed with the Pakistani side.

In addition, the Ukrainian delegation has already held a number of talks with the delegations of the UAE, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, and reached agreements on cooperation in the fields of high-precision weapons, armoured vehicles, unmanned platforms, engines' repair etc. This was announced by Yuriy Husyev, Director General of the 'Ukroboronprom' State Concern.

"We have every reason to predict that in 2021 we will not only maintain our position in our core markets but also enter new ones - with new products. The Ukrainian defence-industrial complex provides such an opportunity. Therefore, we are planning new foreign economic contracts and expect a significant increase in supplies to foreign markets, and thus - an increase in contributions to the state budget," Vadym Nozdria commented on the first results of Ukraine's participation in IDEX 2021.

As reported, IDEX 2021 is held from 21-25 February 2021. It is one of the largest international defence exhibitions held under the patronage of President of the UAE. More than 900 leading defence companies from 59 countries present their expositions in the pavilions of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Ukraine is represented by nine defence enterprises, seven of which are part of Ukroboronprom, including Ukrspecexport. At the same time, Ukrspecexport is the organizer of Ukroboronprom's joint exposition. The Ukrainian delegation is headed by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister for Strategic Industries Oleh Urusky.
